Special Educational Needs and Disabilities

We pride ourselves in being passionate about giving the best care for all children

Langley Vale Pre-School supports The SEND Code of Practice 2014 and The Equality Act 2010.  We refer you also to our Inclusion & Equal Opportunities Policy and our Special Educational Needs Policy.

If you are worried about your child’s progress, development or behaviour, please raise your concerns with your child’s Keyworker and/or our SENCO (Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator), who will be happy to discuss with you.

All our staff are trained in identifying if a child is showing signs of needing extra support and your child’s Keyworker or our SENCO will advise you of any areas in your child’s development that may require additional support.

Our SENCO’s duties include:

  • working closely with you as parent(s)/carer(s) offering appropriate advice and support;
  • drawing up a targeted support plan for your child which will be followed, assessed and reviewed every 8 weeks;
  • liaising and meeting with external agencies eg. Surrey County Council’s Early Years Graduated Response Team, educational psychology services, autism outreach, health and social services and voluntary bodies;
  • applying for Early Intervention funding;
  • Making One Stop referrals;
  • Applying for a Request for Statutory Education, Health and Care (EHC) Needs Assessment
